La Vallée (The Valley), 1987 - 2024 Palawan, Philippines - work in progress
Pierre de Vallombreuse follows the life of a small community of the Palawan ethnic group, in the south of the Philippines for more then 30 years. Once isolated, The Valley and its inhabitants, whose language he speaks, have seen the outside world invite themselves into their lives creating profound upheavals. The Valley is also threatened by the uncontrolled expansion of large oil palm plantations.
Pierre de Vallombreuse and the National Museum of the Philippines have set up a project for the sanctuary of the Valley.
The 21 trips he made and the time spent with them gave rise to several exhibitions:
- . Rencontres International de la photographie d'Arles, 1989
. Albert Kahn Museum in Boulogne-Billancourt, 1994
- . Museum of Cultures and Traditions of Manila in the Philippines, 1995
- . National Museum of the Philippines, 2017
- . Musée de l'Homme in Paris, 2018
And three books Les Hommes des Rochers, in 2002, The Valley in 2017 and Une Vallée in 2018.
