Picto 1950 - 2010. Voir avec le regard de l'autre

A book by Hervé Le Gof.

In 1950, Pierre Gassmann creates, at the rue de la Comète in Paris, the modest PICTORIAL Service laboratory. Amateur photography enthusiast and accomplice of Brassaï, outstanding technician and charismatic personality, Gassmann, supported by his photographic friends (some of whom have just founded the agency Magnum), embarks solitarily in a commercial enterprise almost unknown in France: the fine art photographic printing. Sixty years and a few technological revolutions later, this book gives a look at and understand the production secrets of an exceptional iconography.
